Eckart Sellheim

Eckart Sellheim wurde in Deutschland und der Schweiz u. a. bei Adolf Drescher und Jakob Gimpel ausge-bildet. Nach mehrjähriger Lehrtätigkeit in Köln und Ann Arbor, Michigan (USA) wirkte er von 1989 bis 2008 als Professor und „Director of Collaborative Piano“ an der Arizona State University in Tempe (USA) sowie bis Sommer 2006 als Lehrbeauftragter für Fortepiano an der Trossinger Musikhochschule. Der Künstler gab zahlreiche Meisterkurse für Klavier, Kammer-musik, Liedbegleitung, Fortepiano und historische Aufführungspraxis in Europa und den USA und ist vielgefragtes Jurymitglied internationaler Musikwettbewerbe. Seine umfang-reichen künstlerischen Aktivitäten werden widergespiegelt in einer regen Konzert-Tätigkeit; Tourneen führten ihn durch Europa, Amerika, Lateinamerika und die Karibik, in den Nahen Osten und nach Afrika.
Eckart Sellheims Aufnahmen sind regelmäßig bei den Rundfunksendern in Deutschland und Amerika zu hören. Seine Discographie weist mehr als 20 Einspielungen als Solist, Lied-begleiter und Kammermusiker auf; viele davon wurden bei CBS-Sony mit seinem Bruder und langjährigem Duo-Partner, dem Cellisten Friedrich-Jürgen Sellheim, veröffentlicht.

Eckart Sellheim received his musical training in Germany and Switzerland; Adolf Drescher and Jakob Gimpel were among his teachers. He was appointed to the faculty of the two major conservatories in Cologne and continued his academic career as an Associate Professor of Piano and Chamber Music at the University of Michigan. From 1989 until 2008 he was Professor and Director of Collaborative Piano at Arizona State University. He also served as Guest Lecturer of Fortepiano and Performance Practice at the Musikhochschule in Trossingen, as well as at various music academies in Germany, and has taught numerous master classes in the United States and in several European countries.
Mr. Sellheim maintains an active performance schedule, having made concert tours in the USA, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa, and throughout Europe. He appears regularly on radio programs in Germany and in the USA and has made more than 20 recordings as piano and fortepiano soloist and collaborative pianist, a number of them on the CBS-Sony label with his late brother, renowned German cellist Friedrich-Jürgen Sellheim.
